When it was announced that the Ford Bronco was making a comeback, we were thrilled, but when Ford revealed that it was being joined by a smaller sibling, we were overjoyed! As great as the standard Bronco is, we know that it’s a bit larger than the kind of crossover a lot of people are looking for, which is where the Bronco Sport comes into play. If you’re interested in a subcompact crossover that can go anywhere you can imagine, then you owe it to yourself to take a good look at the Bronco Sport. This is one of the most adventurous vehicles on the market, with fantastic features and options inside and out.

Once you start looking for a Ford Bronco Sport for sale, then you’ll quickly realize you have quite a few different models to choose from. The 2023 Bronco Sport is available in six trim levels, and while the differences from one to the next can be minimal in some cases, they’re much more substantial in others. Choosing the right vehicle can take some work, which is why we’re here to make things a lot easier. Let’s get started by taking a look at the six different 2023 Bronco Sport models available and see if we can figure out which one is perfect for you.

The Ford Bronco Sport Base

This is the starting trim for the Bronco Sport, which means it comes with all of the standard features and has some available options, though not as many as we’ll see on higher trim levels. Proving that this crossover is an amazing off-road machine, even the Base model comes with four-wheel drive (4×4) capability—it’s standard on every Sport Bronco. The Base trim comes with the standard 1.5L EcoBoost I-3 engine that delivers 181 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque, which is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Base model has 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-season tires, with a manual rear liftgate featuring a flip-up rear glass window that lets you access cargo without opening the gate. Inside, you’ll find single-zone climate control, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster for the driver, an eight-inch infotainment display, and a six-speaker sound system. Every Bronco Sport model features the Ford Co-Pilot360 package that includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, a Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, and much more. The standard Base trim also has Ford’s Terrain Management System with five Goes Over Any Type of Terrain (G.O.A.T.) Modes to keep you in control at all times.

The Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend

Moving up from the Base model, we have the Big Bend, which gives you a number of upgrades along with more available options for additional features. It has the same engine and transmission as the standard model, with Continental All-Terrain tires available to enhance grip and handling while out on the trail. The Big Bend features electronic automatic temperature control, Intelligent Access with push-button start, and cloth seating. Available options for this model include heated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a wireless charging pad to keep your devices powered up during your adventures. With the available Class II Trailer Tow Package, the Big Bend can handle up to 2,000 lbs of towing, which you can’t get with the standard model.

The Ford Bronco Sport Heritage

The Heritage is a gorgeous trim that pays tribute to the rich history of Ford adventure and exploration with its overall look and design. In terms of performance, it has the same engine as the previous trims, but the Heritage comes with 17-inch Oxford White-painted aluminum wheels wrapped in Continental All-Terrain tires, standard. To go along with this look, it features an Oxford White roof with unique side decals and an Oxford White grille with Red Bronco lettering to really let it stand apart from other models. Inside, you’ll find many of the same features and options as the Big Bend model, though it has unique Plaid cloth seating that goes beautifully with its exclusive exterior details.

The Ford Bronco Sport Outer Banks

If you like the performance of the standard engine for the Bronco Sport but you want an incredibly refined interior, then the Outer Banks is the one for you. This model comes with 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-season tires, though the 17-inch Continental All-Terrain tires are available if you prefer them. The interior of the Outer Banks really shines thanks to dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, a 6.5-inch color LCD instrument panel, and an eight-inch infotainment display. This model features leather-trimmed seating with heated front seats, including an eight-way power driver’s seat and six-way power front-passenger seat. You get ambient interior lighting and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, while available options include a wireless charging pad, power moonroof, and a B&O ten-speaker sound system.

The Ford Bronco Sport Badlands

For more robust performance, the Badlands is a great place to start. This model comes with a 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 engine that delivers 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque, which comes paired with an eight-speed automatic featuring paddle shifters inside, plus an Advanced 4×4 system with a Twin-Clutch rear drive unit. The Badlands also includes an off-road suspension and Trail Control, which is like cruise control for when you’re driving off-road. You get 17-inch wheels on the Badlands wrapped in Pirelli All-Terrain tires that are perfect for hitting the trail.

This model has metal bash plates on the underside to help protect it when you’re going off-road, plus front tow hooks and two adjustable floodlights on the liftgate. Inside, you’ll find unique style cloth seating with heated front seats; leather-trimmed seating with Mini Perforation and a distinct two-tone design is available. The Badlands trim is the perfect option for going off-road thanks to its standard Terrain Management System with seven G.O.A.T. Modes designed to keep you in control in even more situations than other models.

The Ford Bronco Sport Heritage Limited

If you want the performance and capability of the Badlands model but like the style of the Heritage, then the Heritage Limited is perfect for you. It has the same powerful engine as the Badlands, with a standard Class II Trailer Tow package that allows it to haul up to 2,200 lbs behind you while towing. This trim features 17-inch Oxford White-painted wheels like the Heritage, but it has Falken Wildpeak All-Terrain Off-Road tires for incredible grip and control while you’re out on the trail. You’ll find an Oxford White roof along with an Oxford White front grille with Red Bronco lettering and more details similar to the other Heritage model. Impressive features like a power moonroof, wireless charging pad, and a ten-speaker B&O sound system are all standard on the Heritage Limited, ensuring you get an amazing driving experience.

Which Bronco Sport Model Is Right for You?

All it takes is one good look to see how intelligently Ford has set up the trim levels for the Bronco Sport. The first four have the standard engine, while the last two have the more-powerful one for advanced performance. Within these two groups, you can see how they’ve given each trim different standard and available features to create a lineup that offers something for pretty much every driver looking for a crossover to take on their next adventure. Having all of these great options available lets you get just what you need in your ride, but it also means it can be easy to overlook something important and miss a feature that you later wish you had. This is why it’s so helpful to work with people who know the Ford lineup inside and out. Give us a call at Pearson Ford to discuss your options, and we’ll make sure you get a Bronco Sport with everything you’ve been looking for.
