From Commutes to Campgrounds: The Ford Maverick Does It All

For some, hearing “Ford Maverick” brings back memories of a compact sedan from the 1970s. What you might not know is that the Maverick nameplate has been used a few times around the globe since that sedan was discontinued in 1977. Today, however, the Ford Maverick is the number one compact pickup, according to MotorTrend, and earned a “10 Best” ranking from Car and Driver. The Maverick has earned its place among drivers as a vehicle that can do it all without leaving an oversized footprint, from offering efficiency during the commute to helping you tackle your to-do list to creating new memories with family and friends.
If you’re inexperienced with pickup trucks or have been on the fence about what truck you should buy for an upcoming move-in or a trip to the lake with a boat in tow, your search is over. Here at Pearson Ford, we love to offer our more budget-conscious customers a chance to test drive a Ford Maverick for sale, and our team is excited to show you what it can do. Let’s look at this remarkable compact truck and see how easily it can slot into your lifestyle.
Why the Maverick Is Turning Heads
It’s been a long time since a compact truck caused so much commotion, but once you take a closer look at the Maverick, you will quickly see what all the fuss is about. Lower-level trims of the Maverick come equipped with the previous year’s 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid engine, but new for 2025 is an available all-wheel drive (AWD) option for the 2.5L hybrid, which can come standard on select higher-level trims. This addition brings the 2025 Maverick’s value through the roof when considering the fuel economy benefits; even with AWD, the Maverick’s hybrid powertrain clocks in at an EPA-estimated 40 MPG on the highway and 34 MPG in the city, making it a pickup truck that puts some commuter SUVs to shame in terms of efficiency. However, while efficiency and power are good, these two things aren’t the only features that have the Maverick leading its class.
Do It Yourself With FLEXBED
A pickup truck is nothing without its truck bed. Drivers rely on a sizeable, reliable bed to haul things that other kinds of vehicles can’t. Leaning into this understanding, the Ford design team made the most of the Maverick’s smaller bed size, offering one of the most usable spaces in the industry. We’d like to introduce the FLEXBED Storage System, which is seen throughout the Maverick lineup and is built with DIYers, adventurers, and workers in mind.
The Ford Maverick’s FLEXBED Storage System includes a set of vertical and horizontal slots that, using 2×4 or 2×6 boards, can create segmented sections in your truck bed for better utilization of space. For instance, you can create bike racks, areas to hold smaller items so they don’t slide around, and much more. Additionally, depending on your needs, you can lock the tailgate in set positions, including a mid-position, or keep it fully closed or open by adjusting the support cables. Phones, laptops, battery chargers, and corded tools can be charged with an equipped 120V outlet, which can also power the available LED box lighting to create an illuminated workspace out of your truck bed at night. Another perk of the design is that the lower side walls of the truck allow you to reach over and get what you need out of the bed without lowering the tailgate.

Tow- and Trail-Ready With the Tremor
Another key reason to choose a truck, especially for drivers who enjoy time in the great outdoors, is the ability to explore the road less traveled. The Maverick offers two great options for tackling the trails, and its compact size makes navigating tight spaces easier than if you opt for a mid- or even full-size truck. Of course, that small footprint makes finding parking in the city and weaving in and out of traffic during your commute that much easier as well.
If spending more time outdoors is on your bucket list, we recommend choosing either the Maverick XLT with the available FX4 Off-Road package on board or the Maverick Tremor trim level. The former has a standard 2K trailer hitch receiver and 4-pin connector to make hitching up the family camper or boat easier. Additionally, you can add the 4K Tow package, which allows you to tow up to 4,000 lbs. The FX4 Off-Road package adds features such as all-terrain tires, skid plates, and an upgraded suspension to the XLT, bringing it up to a solid adventuring standard without going overboard. Also worth noting is that this package offers better traction as it unlocks specialized drive modes for use when faced with sandy or muddy conditions.
On the other hand, the Tremor trim level comes standard with all the off-road features you need and a few more you didn’t realize you needed. Its off-road-tuned suspension, lockable rear differential, and trail-focused technology give you not only the ability but also the confidence to head out on the trails. Plus, it offers unique styling, such as front tow hooks and an upper grille accented with Tremor Orange paint. Other adjustments have been made to the exterior to make the Tremor friendlier to unfriendly environments, such as the front bumper providing a much-improved approach angle.
Style and Substance With the Lobo
If checking off the boxes on your work to-do list or hitting the trails isn’t what you have in mind, you might be looking for raw excitement. If that sounds right, consider exploring the newest trim level in the Maverick lineup, the Lobo. Equipped with a standard 2.0L EcoBoost Advanced four-wheel drive (4WD) engine and a seven-speed quick-shift transmission, this truck is designed for style and substance.
Aside from the performance-inspired suspension, the Lobo’s intentions are clear with its enhanced steering and brakes and its signature closed-course-only configuration: Lobo Mode. Rather than prioritizing off-road capabilities, like the Tremor trim level, Lobo Mode enhances your on-street driving performance with a lowered suspension, improved handling, and impressive cornering abilities. One glance, and you will also see that the truck’s design is reminiscent of classic lowered street trucks. For the Maverick Lobo, this means a unique fascia and aggressive styling that make it stand out in a crowd.
In the interior of the Lobo trim, the unique styling continues, with ActiveX-trimmed seats accented with Grabber Blue and Electric Lime stitching. You can also upgrade your entertainment experience by adding a B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen with HD Radio and eight speakers, among other options that take the truck’s appearance to the next level, such as a power moonroof and ambient lighting.
