The 2017 Ford Fusion is recognized as the Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety by performing well on all five crashworthiness tests according to Ford News. A new active breaking system and modified front-end structure qualified the 2017 Ford Fusion for the award. Like previous models, the 2017 vehicle earned good ratings in moderate overlap front, side, roof strengths and head restraints. In addition, the front crash prevention rating improved from basic to superior due to the inclusion of the new optional active breaking system. But the optional system doesn’t stop there. It also includes a forward collision warning component that meets National Highway Traffic Safety Administration criteria.
