Power for Every Expedition You Take

The 2023 Ford Expedition is powered by a 3.5L EcoBoost engine that provides a balance between power and efficiency. Even on the most basic trim levels, the Expedition can deliver up to 380 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Upgrade to the Limited, King Ranch, or Platinum trims, and you’ll get more capability, upping those numbers to 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. For maximum power, you’ll want the high-output version of the engine, which comes standard on the Limited Stealth Performance and Timberline trims and is optional on some other trims. This unlocks a maximum of 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough for day-to-day driving and just right for tough off-road trails.

If you are planning on venturing off-road, you’ll want to opt for a 4x4 model, which gives you extra traction for more precise control on rough terrain. The Expedition also offers up to 10.6 inches of ground clearance, so you don’t have to worry about bumpy trails or stray rocks damaging the undercarriage. The Timberline trim is the most adventure-ready, with rugged bumpers, skid plates, and underbody shielding all in place to protect passengers and important components alike. If you like to bring a trailer or boat along for your vacation, you can opt for the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, which brings the SUV’s maximum towing capacity up to 9,300 lbs.

    Tackle Any Terrain

The Expedition is a versatile vehicle that’s designed to perform well under a variety of circumstances and road conditions, keeping the driver in control no matter what. Independent front and rear suspension deliver a nice, smooth ride and improve stability, handling, and driving around tight corners. An available Terrain Management System gives drivers seven drive modes to choose from:

    • Normal conserves energy for driving around town.
    • Sport prioritizes performance for more spirited drives.
    • Tow/Haul accounts for extra weight to keep the vehicle well-balanced.
    • Eco prioritizes fuel economy.
    • Grass/Gravel/Snow is optimized for loose terrain.
    • Sand is configured for low-traction surfaces.
    • Mud/Ruts is tuned for uneven surfaces.

In any mode, you can either manually select 2WD or 4WD or set it to Automatic to let the system switch between the two as needed to optimize traction when necessary and get better fuel economy when the weather and road conditions are good. The Expedition also uses an aerodynamic design to improve fuel economy. Despite its large size and powerful engine, the Expedition can get an average of 23 MPG on the highway, saving you from pain at the pump.

  • Interior

    Nice Aesthetics

The interior is available in a variety of colors and materials, so you can pick the one that best matches your taste. The Platinum offers a leather-trimmed carmelo interior that’s soft, comfortable, and refined. The Mahogany interior, available on the Limited, has rich, dark hues in earth tones that are classy in the city but also feel right at home in the great outdoors. The luxurious King Ranch trim features Del Rio leather seats and surfaces, with Kingsville stitching and an iconic logo providing a contrasting color for an aesthetically-pleasing two-toned look.

    Practical and Exciting Features

Looks aren’t the only thing the Expedition’s interior has to offer: there are plenty of practical features too. The comfortable seating can accommodate up to eight people, and even the third-row seats offer plenty of space and legroom for full-grown adults. An intuitive cargo management system gives you plenty of ways to organize luggage and lets you strike the perfect balance between passenger seating and cargo space.

A comprehensive assortment of tech features helps drivers stay informed and connected on the road. An available 15.5-inch LCD touchscreen is the largest in its class and comes with SYNC 4A technology that keeps it up-to-date with the latest software and data. This means that the built-in navigation is constantly evolving to keep up with changes on the ground, and the conversational voice recognition system is always improving, making it easy to change settings and get helpful information without taking your eyes off the road. An available 12.4-inch digital instrument panel puts customizable vehicle information on an easy-to-view screen right behind the steering wheel.

    Plenty for Passengers to Enjoy

Passengers also benefit from the latest technology. Eight available USB ports and available wireless charging make it easy to keep everyone’s phones, tablets, and other devices fully powered. With a FordPass Connect 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, up to ten devices can access the Internet either from within the vehicle or up to 50 feet outside of it, so passengers can stay informed and entertained on the road, at a rest stop, or wherever else you travel.

Beyond personal devices, backseat passengers can also make use of the available dual-headrest rear seat entertainment system with built-in Amazon Fire TV. Not only can you stream content, but you can also use the 16 GB of storage to access your favorite shows, movies, music, and games even when you aren’t connected to the Internet. The screens can either be used individually with headphones or synced up and connected to the speakers. Two Voice Remotes with Alexa make it easy to find and control content.

  • Safety

Keeping Everyone in the Family Safe

Safety is always a top priority on the road, especially when you’re driving with the whole family. Luckily, the Expedition comes standard with a comprehensive suite of safety features. Rear parking sensors and a rearview camera help keep you aware of your surroundings while backing up. The standard LATCH system makes it easy to securely install car seats and booster seats for babies and younger children. Forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking can mitigate the damage of accidents or prevent them altogether.

Since the Expedition is built for adventure, there are also safety features that are designed specifically for tasks like trailering or going off-road. Ford Trail Control optimizes the braking and throttle systems, giving you full control on both uneven terrain and steep grades. Pro Trailer Backup Assist 2.0 gives you the ability to steer a trailer in reverse with the turn of a knob. Reverse brake assist, which detects vehicles, pedestrians, and obstacles behind you and provides both warnings and automatic braking, is available with trailer coverage, as is rear cross-traffic alert, so there are plenty of advanced systems in place to help you with the tricky job of backing up while towing. An available limited-slip differential makes towing safer in slippery conditions.

If you opt for higher trim levels or tech packages, you can access even more advanced tech that makes driving and parking safe and easy. Active Park Assist can automatically park the Expedition, either parallel or perpendicular, so you don’t have to deal with tricky maneuvers in tight spaces. Intersection Assist uses data from both cameras and radar sensors to detect oncoming traffic when turning through an intersection. Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control doesn’t just keep your vehicle at a set speed; it can slow down and speed back up in order to maintain a reasonable following distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. Ford BlueCruise takes this a step further, allowing you to operate the vehicle hands-free on over 130,000 miles of compatible roads in North America.
