For 2022, Ford offers the Mustang Mach-E in four trims: the Select, the GT, the Premium, and the California Route 1. Each trim offers its own long list of benefits and features, so you can shop confidently. The Select starts at just under $44,000 and has a standard range of up to 247 miles.[a] Achieving a zero-to-sixty time of just 5.2 seconds, the Select is no ordinary base model. It comes standard with eAWD, and the electric motor supplies 266 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque for brisk acceleration and plenty of top-end speed.
Seeking even more power? Choose the Mustang Mach-E GT. This beast delivers a 3.5-second zero-to-sixty time by way of 480 horsepower and a whopping 634 lb-ft of torque when equipped with the GT Performance Package. You’ll get a 270-mile driving range and a feature called Unbridled Extend Drive, which optimizes output for track or autocross driving. The GT’s eAWD runs on its own dedicated motor, giving you more grip and better handling capability in just about any weather.
Luxury seekers will find all the comfort and convenience they’re seeking in the Mustang Mach-E Premium. Serving up a 303-mile driving range and an impressive array of high-end luxury features, the Premium adopts a refined feel without losing the Mach-E’s performance attributes. You’ll get 346 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque, along with a 10-speaker B&O audio system, heated seats and steering wheel, and ActiveX seating surfaces. 19-inch aluminum wheels with high-gloss black accenting are also included.
You don’t have to live on the left coast to appreciate the California Route 1 trim. It boasts an extended range of 314 miles, comes with standard RWD, and offers the same great horsepower and torque ratings found on the Premium. This trim includes a panoramic fixed-glass roof that lets the sunshine in, along with a 15.5-inch infotainment touchscreen that runs on the lightning-fast SYNC 4A operating system. It’s capable of receiving over-the-air software updates, so you’ll always be running on the newest software version. Black Onyx ActiveX seating elevates the cabin aesthetics, giving it a sleek, minimalist vibe.
What if we told you there was a vehicle with better fuel economy ratings than the tiniest hatchback and performance capabilities that rival European sports cars that cost thousands more? You’d be skeptical, that is, until you got behind the wheel of a Mustang Mach-E GT equipped with the GT Performance Package. Power and practicality combine perfectly with the GT’s 91.0 kWh extended range battery, dual-motor power, and AWD capability. It translates to 480 ponies and an astounding 634 lb-ft of torque.
When we picture a typical EV, what comes to mind is a commuter-friendly car with sleepy road manners and slow acceleration. The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT crushes that stereotype once and for all, hitting 60 MPH in just 3.8 seconds. Add the GT Performance Package, and your zero-to-sixty time improves to 3.5 seconds, the fastest in the Mach-E lineup. Meanwhile, you’ll get a very practical 270-mile range on the GT and a 260-mile range on the GT Performance Edition. Both models feature large 20-inch wheels and standard eAWD.
GT and GT Performance Edition drivers can settle into custom-made bucket seats designed to carry you through hairpin turns and provide support as you accelerate briskly to highway speeds. The GT includes Sport Style Seats with ActiveX surfaces and Miko inserts. The GT Performance Edition receives Ford Performance Front Seats with Gray ActiveX and reflective Miko inserts. A 15.5-inch infotainment touchscreen is standard, as is a 10.2-inch digital driver cluster that lets you customize and monitor key driving data.
All other Mustang Mach-E trims come with your choice of RWD or eAWD. Choosing RWD means you’ll get the most driving range possible, but achieving peak torque and the grippiest road handling requires opting for eAWD. Choosing is a matter of deciding what’s most important. For commuters, it might be the confidence of a little extra range, while buyers in cold weather climates or those seeking more low-end power might find eAWD worth the slight reduction in range.
Owning an EV means making some small changes to your driving habits and lifestyle, but the transition is surprisingly seamless. Ford makes it easy, too, offering app-based driver support for everything from locating charging stations to monitoring range. All 2022 Mustang Mach-Es come with a Ford Mobile Charger that’s compatible with both 120V or 240V outlets. Buyers can also choose to purchase and install a Ford Connected Charge Station in their home garage.
Ford is working hard to create a network of reliable charging stations for drivers nationwide. It’s called the Blue Oval Charge Network, and it’s currently the largest public charging network in the country. The network includes DC fast chargers for rapid battery replenishment and integrates with an app-based feature called FordPass Power My Trip, which monitors your range and suggests the best charging station location based on when you’ll need to power up.
The lineup of at-home charging stations includes three options for Mustang Mach-E buyers: the Ford Mobile Charger, which plugs into an existing 120-volt outlet, the 240 volt Ford Mobile Charger, and the hardwired 240 volt Ford Connected Charge Station. The 120v Ford Mobile Charger is the most basic option, offering 12 amps of power and requiring 95 hours to achieve a full charge, which translates into approximately three miles of range per hour. Since it doesn’t require any additional electrical work, it’s the most cost-efficient.
Moving up to the 240v Ford Mobile Charger gets you 32 amps of charging power, 20 miles of range per hour, and gets you fully charged in just 15 hours. You’ll need a licensed electrician to install it, so plan on spending a little bit more. With the Ford Connected Charge Station, you’ll receive 48 amps of power, which means under 11 hours until you’ll achieve a full charge. That translates to 28 miles of range per charging hour. You’ll also get app-based connectivity via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, but you’ll also need an electrician to install this system.
