  • Trims

    The SE

The Edge comes in five different trims, each offering its own list of benefits. First, there’s the base SE. Priced affordably and with no shortage of high-end standard equipment, the Edge SE starts with a standard 12-inch infotainment touchscreen that runs on Ford’s responsive SYNC 4A operating system. The screen is mounted portrait style within easy reach of the driver. Also standard on the Edge SE is Ford Co-Pilot360, a suite of driver-assist systems designed to alert you to potential road hazards, so you and your passengers stay safe.

    The SEL

Moving up to the SEL unlocks access to premium available features like LED fog lamps and a two-panel panoramic sunroof, as well as an optional wireless charging pad, power liftgate, and heated steering wheel. Heated power exterior mirrors are standard, and the cabin receives a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A set of two configurable LCD displays replaces the analog dials found in the base SE, and buyers also receive additional smart-charging USB ports.

    The ST-Line

If you want your 2022 Edge to reflect a sportier overall appearance, the ST-Line is your best bet. This trim combines a number of appearance upgrades with trim-specific badging to create a Ford Edge that’s, well, a bit edgier. Features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, upgraded (and brighter) LED exterior lighting, and ST-Line badging. Fog lamps are standard, as well as lower cladding on the side body panels. The ST-Line also comes with a standard wireless charger, remote start system, and a power liftgate. Also included is a 110v power outlet, a 10-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and ActiveX seating material with sporty Miko inserts.

    The Titanium

Luxury seekers should look closely at the premium Edge Titanium. Sitting near the top of the lineup, the Titanium is loaded with standard luxury features, including a heated steering wheel, a hands-free foot-activated liftgate, and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system that includes a subwoofer. Ambient lighting, a memory setting on the exterior mirrors, and leather-trimmed seating with heated and cooled front seats are all included with the Titanium trim.

    The ST

Standing alone at the very top of the Edge lineup is the performance-oriented ST. This trim is the only Edge model that receives a standard 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine that generates 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. Its class-leading power is designed for thrilling acceleration and, when combined with the available ST Performance Brake Package, features 21-inch wheels paired with a set of summer tires and upgraded front and rear brakes with bright red calipers and performance brake pads.

  • Performance

    The Standard Engine

All Edge trims except the performance-oriented ST come standard with a turbocharged twin-scroll 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. It’s paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and boasts 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Edge models equipped with the 2.0-liter engine achieve impressive fuel economy ratings of 21 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway, making it a great choice for long-range commuters or buyers with a weekend road trip habit.

    Optional Power

Thrill-seekers won’t be able to resist the Edge ST, the only trim with Ford’s larger 2.7-liter V6 and a 7-speed automatic transmission that squeezes out just the right amount of torque in every gear. The larger V6 doesn’t give up much in the way of fuel efficiency, coming in at 19 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. As for acceleration, the Edge ST isn’t fooling around. Expect a brisk zero-to-sixty time of just 6.1 seconds.

While the Edge isn’t designed to haul heavy RVs and boats, you do have the option of equipping it to tow up to 3,500 pounds, which is enough for a pair of jet skis, a utility trailer, or a small fishing boat. Simply opt for the Class II Trailer Tow Package, available on the SEL and Titanium and standard on the ST, and your Edge will include all the equipment necessary to safely tow. The system also includes trailer sway control. Combine that with a max cargo capacity of 73.4 cubic feet, and your Edge works well for weekend road trip adventures.

  • Safety

Ford Co-Pilot360 Will Keep Everyone Safe

Families and drivers for whom safety is paramount will appreciate Ford’s decision to equip all Edge trims with standard Ford Co-Pilot360 technology. Co-Pilot360 is a suite of driver-assist safety and convenience features designed to keep drivers alert and all occupants safe while on the go. The suite expands to offer additional convenience systems for upper-level Edge trims, but even the base SE receives plenty of standard safety technology.

The list of included systems starts with Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, a system that detects vehicles in your blind spots and alerts you, so you don’t attempt to change lanes. Cross-Traffic Alert monitors the area behind the vehicle and lets you know when a car is approaching from either side, so you can relax and back out of that parking spot or driveway with confidence. The Lane-Keeping System works by constantly monitoring your vehicle’s position on the road. When it senses you drifting to one side, and your turn signal isn’t on, it gently vibrates the steering wheel to “nudge” you back to the center of your lane. If it senses you drifting more than a couple of times, the system will suggest that you pull over and take a break. This system works especially well for long, boring highway drives when fatigue can set in.

We’re all guilty of taking our eyes off the road on occasion, whether it’s to change the radio station or glimpse an incoming text message. For those unfortunate moments, Co-Pilot360 includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. The system uses radar, cameras, and sensors to monitor the area in front of your vehicle and alert you to a potential collision with both cars and pedestrians. The system can also intervene with emergency braking to help you avoid or minimize the impact of an imminent crash.

Other Features to Make Your Journey Safer

LED headlights, taillights, and daytime running lamps are standard on the Edge, along with bumper-saving rear parking sensors. Other available safety technologies include Auto High-Beam Headlamps that switch between the low and high-beam setting automatically, Evasive Steering Assist, which can help you maneuver around an unexpected obstacle in your lane, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, a system that automatically varies speed and applies the brakes to keep your vehicle running with traffic.

The 2022 Edge received a prestigious 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), the agency’s highest distinction. Previous model years also earned a Top Safety Pick distinction from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, including a Superior rating for front crash prevention and all Good ratings (the highest) for crashworthiness in multiple tests. These superior rankings are partially due to the Edge’s robust airbag system, which includes side-impact airbags.

In addition to all of its standard driver-assist safety technology, the Edge receives an SOS Post-Crash Alert System, which automatically flashes the lights and repeatedly sounds the horn to draw attention to your vehicle if it’s involved in a crash. The system is triggered when the airbags deploy and will continue operating until the battery is drained or it is turned off manually. The goal is to draw attention to your Ford Edge after an accident.
