We want to take your dealership experience a cut above. If you’re in the market for a high-quality truck and you find yourself sitting around thinking, “I know there’s a Ford truck dealer near me, but I just don’t want to deal with a dealership today,” we hope you’ll find upon walking through our doors that you’re more comfortable here than you thought. Pearson Ford truly is a family affair, as our dealership has been in the Pearson family for over fifty years. But, enough about us! This is about you. If you’re looking for a truck, there’s a new or used truck waiting for you at Pearson Ford! While our inventory features trucks from all of your favorite leading brands, we feel strongly about the excellence and the value of Ford trucks, and that’s not just our personal bias speaking. History and statistics speak for themselves.
While they probably didn’t offer Ford Truck History at your high school (though we think they should), there is a lot of history to uncover with this iconic brand, especially in the area of its trucks. The history of Ford officially began in 1903 with the official incorporation of Ford Motor Company, but the roots of the company stretch all the way back to 1896, when Henry Ford built his first vehicle: The Quadricycle. If, when you read that word, you pictured a tricycle with an extra wheel, you’re not far off. It was certainly an unprecedented innovation at the time, but now it looks closer to a bicycle than a car. Of course, we are sure you know that Ford Motor Company quickly became a pioneer in the automotive industry in the United States, and in 1917 it led the industry into a new era: the era of the truck.
Yes, on July 27, 1917, Ford unveiled the Model TT. For those of you who are thinking, “oops, that’s a typo; it should say Model T,” please know that we have done our research, and it is not indeed a typo. You are, however, correct in recognizing that the Model TT and the Model T are closely related, as the TT kept the engine and cab of the T but added a stronger frame, which increased the vehicle’s cargo-hauling capabilities. Now, this was not your traditional pickup truck; while we are used to trucks that include the bed, this truck came with a bare chassis, meaning that the owner could attach a bed or any other accouterment of his or her choosing.
Shortly after the Model TT came the Model AA, which was offered as a chassis cab only, and the Model BB, which was used mainly for industrial and medical work, thanks to its then-excellent capability. But, the Model (insert-letter-combo-here) trucks would never see the capability of the F-series trucks.
The F-series trucks stemmed from a postwar era in which trucks were now being used in less rural areas and needed to bridge the gap from the farm to the city. While the first-generation F-1 truck was not Ford’s longest-lasting nameplate by any means, it did usher in an era of innovative trucks that transitioned from mere work vehicles to stylish and enjoyable vehicles, while remaining highly capable. Ford knew that it had something special, so it kept diligently developing these F-series trucks, finding ways to innovate and improve upon what it had built. Needless to say, they did an excellent job and remain in their stride of excellent truck production. As the F-series trucks developed throughout the mid-twentieth century, the phrase Built Ford Tough began to appear. After all those years, the Built Ford Tough mentality is alive and well.
As we’ve all experienced, “tough” comes in many different shapes and sizes. This is why Ford doesn’t feel the need to produce only huge, overbearing trucks (though it certainly does that, too) but also smaller ones.
A compact truck, like the new Ford Maverick, is perfect for those seeking a truck for recreational use or for simpler tasks. If you’re looking for a vehicle to get your small fishing boat into and out of the lake, then a compact body size is perfect. And you’ll still be able to get some good hard work done with it and even do some off-roading!
For many drivers, a compact truck is just too small, and a full-size truck is just too big. A midsize truck, however, will provide a nice happy medium between a compact and a full-size truck. The Ford Ranger, for example, is a midsize truck that is a good fit for those living in urban areas who often commute to rural areas, as it provides the performance capabilities to perform well in off-road environments and worksites while still being compact enough to take back to the city at night.
Now, a full-size truck like the F-150 is where you start getting into serious territory. The Ford F-150 is one of the most recognizable nameplates among modern trucks, and for a good reason: its well-architectured full-size body allows it to lead the industry in pickup truck performance specs. If you really are using your truck for tough work, then you will want a full-size truck at the very least. But that’s at the very least; you could always go up a notch.
Don’t let the word “full” make you think that full-size trucks are where the lineup ends. Heavy-duty trucks are true workhorses, and this is proven in the Ford Super Duty. If you thought the F-150’s performance specs were good (and they are), the Super Duty will undoubtedly blow your mind. A heavy-duty truck body is ideal for those using their pickup truck for industrial work, whether through a business or as an independent contractor. You will have far more capability and durability, and it will pay off in your work.
Every year, Ford manages to make sure their trucks are unbeatable. Ford has managed to add an all-electric version of the F-150 to its lineup. The Ford F-150 Lightning manages to uphold the legacy of the traditional F-150 model while introducing new features only an EV can provide. Increased power, efficiency, and more storage options than ever before make the F-150 Lightning one incredible truck.
Additionally, the Ford Maverick is the newest addition to the Ford truck lineup! This spunky compact truck will provide you and your family with lots of fun times, and we can’t wait to see how Ford continues to develop this new truck!
